Richard was my grandfather and I believe he came from Furness in England. He immigrated to the U.S. to Wisconsin and married a lady by the name of Carrie Fischer, They had 3 children: Edward, Lucille and Leslie Birkett. Edward moved to Seattle, WA and I never met him. I believe he had one son, Lyle Birkett, who is now deceased and I also never met him, Lucille married William Meyer and they had 4 children. My father was Leslie, whom I never knew as he died in a car accident when I was only 11 months old. Carrie, Richard's wife, died a few years after my father, Leslie was born. Richard went back to England and married another Englishwoman named Juanita. Her parents had lived for a time in South America, which is probably where the name Juanita came from. She was raised in England and was a dignified lady. My mother, who was from Australia originally, had a close relationship with Juanita. Unfortunately, I did not know any of my paternal grandparents as they passed away either before I was born, or shortly after.
