OBITUARY. - We have to record the death of another
old resident of this neighborhood, Mr. Richard Bunworth.
The deceased was a native of County Cork, Ireland, and
arrived in Melbourne in 1851. After a very short stay in
the metropolis he entered the employment of the late
Mr. Kennedy, then of Bald Hills, near Mount Sturgeon,
where he remained for two years. Subsequently he worked
on Nareeb Nareeb and then on Skene, until in 1858, he
purchased the farm at the foot of Pierrepoint where he
resided till the time of his death. Mr. Bunworth never
took much interest in public affairs, preferring to live
quietly with his family looking after his farm.
He was a regular attendant at the Roman Catholic Church,
of which he was a zealous member. The deceased, who
reached the ripe old age of four score and ten years, was
a hale and hearty man till about 12 months ago when his
eyesight gave way. He leaves a widow, five sons and
four daughters to mourn their loss. Mr. Bunworth was
highly respected by all who knew him.
Richard Vincent Bunworth of Mary Australia was born in 1885, and died at age 72 years old in 1957 in Maryborough, Victoria. Richard Bunworth was buried at Avoca Cemetery in Avoca, Pyrenees Shire County, VIC.
