Robert Joseph Dolato was born in Lacrosse County Wisconsin to Michael Frank Dolato (1891-1968) and Gertrude Jane Plunkett (1893-1989) and had four siblings and 2 half siblings.
Robert Dolato was born to Joseph and Helen Dolato in Hammond Indiana. According to the 1930s census, he was 4 years old living with his father Joseph (35), mother Helen (33), and his 2 year old sister Shirley on Benedict Ave in Hammond.
Robert enlisted in the United States military on June 22nd 1944 at Fort Benjamin Harrison Indiana. In September he was diagnosed with pneumonia and in March 1945 he was discharged due to Nasopharyngitis.
