Robert C Wian
Businessman. A restaurant entrepreneur who was considered a giant in the food industry. His restaurants became a part of the American landscape with over 1,000 locations across the country known for its double-deck hamburgers and the chubby boy mascot in checkered overalls. He used the $350 from the sale of his car to open a 10-stool "Bob's Pantry" restaurant in Glendale, California. In addition to this venture, he was a local politician having served as a city council member and then mayor of Glendale. An ardent fisherman, he acquired a rundown fishing vessel in Mexico which he restored. Claim to fame was its use in the movie "Wackiest Ship in the Army," starring Jack Lemmon. Items sold from the various restaurants have become desirable objects coveted by collectors around the world. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage which took his life at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, California.
