Roy Martin Ritota's parents were Nicholas M Ritota and Elizabeth Tedesco.
When Roy was 16, he was living in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was born, with his parents and siblings Madelyn, Frances, Marion, Nicholas, and "Nelsie". He had completed his third year of high school. Dad was working as a mechanic in a machine shop, Madelyn was working as a spinner in a silk mill, and Frances was working as a doffer in a worsted mill.
When Roy was 18 and living in Providence, he was 5 feet 6.75 inches and weighed 143 pounds. He had brown eyes, brown hair, and a "light" complexion. He was working at Rheem Shipyard in Providence and living at home.
When Roy enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, he was living in Providence, Rhode Island. Roy was working as a warehouse man in an oil refinery, Madeline was a supervisor at the telephone company, and father Nicholas was a tool maker.
By the time he was 26, Roy was still with his parents and some of his siblings - Madeline, Nicholas Jr., and Elsie - in Providence.
Roy married Eleanor I Melone (1928 - 2013) in 1952 and they were married until he died. They had children Christine, Ellen, Elizabeth, and Susan.
Roy was a veteran of World War II, having served as a T Sgt in the United States Army Air Force. He was honored by being buried in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
