Sadie Bessie (Bia) Batton Dec 16, 1899 - May 20, 1972 Virginia, United States

I only knew her as a farmer’s wife. Her time was spent in her garden, tending her chickens, and feeding anyone who stopped by. I am blessed to be her granddaughter, and we shared December 16 as our birthday. She was a quiet, loving, likable person. Besides raising her 7 children, she also raised 30 some foster children. As her husband was dying from a heart attack, she prayed that the good Lord wouldn’t leave her here without him. To the best of my knowledge it is figured she died just minutes before him. She was a woman of faith. And the Lord answered her prayer. She was my hero.
