My grandfather Samuel porto was a hardworking good father his family had a banana selling business and he also delivered ice.Later on he became a furniture salesman and on the side had his own successful business as a furniture restorer and repair from home. Grandma porto aka mary porto/sunzeri and Samuel porto grandpa had 8 living children and owned their own home for many years on the west side of Buffalo at 1045 west ave. Together with the help of friends and family the Italian community tight knit back then formed the amici lodge; a club for Italians it later was ran by his nephew eddy porto. The lodge is long gone but it was a place of many memories and family gatherings as well as bingo games.
