Susan C. (Stubbs) Hyatt
Dr. Susan C. Stubbs Hyatt (b. 1946) is a church research historian, Bible scholar, ordained minister (1983), life-long, professional educator, author, editor, and publisher. A Canadian by birth and citizenship, she was born and raised in the Greater Saint John Area in the Province of New Brunswick. She was awarded the Governor General's Medal, the highest Canadian award given to a school's outstanding graduate (1964), and she went on to graduate with honors from the University of New Brunswick Teachers College (1966) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. In college she connected with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and continued to fellowship with this interdenominational organization while teaching public school and community college. She also attended IVCF’s Urbana Missionary Conference at the University of Illinois in 1967, 1970, and 1973. While teaching in New Brunswick public schools, she sponsored IVCF. After several years of teaching public school, she earned her Certification as a Facilitator and Life Coach with the Department of Education for the Province of New Brunswick. She served in this capacity at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John before retiring in 1974 to fulfil her call to full-time ministry. In 1976, she graduated from Christ for the Nations Institute, Dallas, Texas, and married that same year. She and her husband, Dr. Eddie L. Hyatt, served as pastors in Canada until 1984 when they returned to full-time, higher education in the USA. In 1986, she graduated summa cum laude from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (1987) in Waxahachie, Texas. She earned two M.A.s with honors from the Oral Roberts University Graduate School of Theology and Missions: one in Historical and Theological Studies (1989); the other, in Biblical Studies (1994). She did a year of post-graduate studies at the Center for Advanced Theological Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary (1994-1995) and has an earned Doctor of Ministry degree from the School of Divinity at Regent University (2000). Dr. Hyatt has received many academic awards, such as WHO’S WHO Among Students, the National Religion and Philosophy Award, National Dean’s Honor’s List, Academic All American, and Delta Epsilon Chi (Honor Society of the American Association of Bible Colleges). Over the years, she has participated in the Evangelical Theological Society and is currently a member of the Society for Pentecostal Studies. For almost 20 years, Susan not only travelled to several nations in Europe, Asia, and North America as a Bible teacher, but she also served as a ghost-writer for ministers who have had a global impact. While she continues to ghost-write selectively, she now focuses with her husband on writing and publishing, especially through Hyatt Press and the Int'l Christian Women's Hall of Fame. Some of her works include: Where Are My Susannas?, 10 Things Jesus Taught about Women, Who’s the Boss?, In the Spirit We’re Equal, The Nature of Biblical Unity, New Testament Survey Manual, and The Spirit, The Bible, and Women Manual. Her doctoral dissertation from Regent University (2000) is "A Biblical Theology of Womanhood for Spirit-Oriented Believers." She was also commissioned by Thomas Nelson Publishers to write the chapter “Spirit-Filled Women” in their benchmark publication, The Century of the Holy Spirit, edited by the late Dr. Vinson Synan, preeminent Pentecostal/Charismatic historian, and Dean Emeritus of Regent University School of Divinity. At the invitation of the French Community of the Belgium Government, she was the sole representative of Christian/Pentecostal/Charismatic women of North America at the Women in Religion Colloquium in Brussels (2001). She is a contributing editor to the Encyclopedia of Christian Civilization published by Blackwell (Oxford and Boston) in 2008, writing the entry of "Women in Ministry." Susan serves as founding coordinator of the Int’l Christian Women’s Hall of Fame, a multifaceted undertaking to equip women to be change agents in society and the Christian community by honoring women of the past and present, and by providing interactive education, strategic resources, significant relationships, leadership training, and ministry opportunities. Susan and her husband, Dr. Eddie L. Hyatt, are equal partners in ministry and marriage. They reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Grapevine, Texas. Contact Information Mailing Address: P. O.
