Vincent John Maddux's father was John William Maddux (1865 - 1936) and his mother was Julia Pate O'Dell (1876 - 1913). They were both born in Missouri. He had siblings Benjamin, Ethel, and David. When Vincent was 4, he and his parents and siblings (Benjamin, Ethel, and David) were living in Knoxville, Missouri. Dad was a farmer. Vincent married Lyndall M Ellis on May 16, 1923, in Jackson Missouri. Almost 40 years later, Vincent and Lyndall were living with her mother, Laura, and their children Betty and Bill, in San Gabriel, California, on Hellman Avenue. Vincent owned a pool hall. He was 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighed 210 pounds, and had gray eyes and brown hair, with a light complexion. When Vincent J. Maddux was 54, he was still married to Lyndall M. Ellis, and they were living with Lyndall's mother, Laura K. Ellis, in Monterey Park, Los Angeles County, California. Vincent still owned the pool hall.
