In 1910, in the year that Ada K Lederman was born, the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated. U.S. publisher W.D. Boyce was visiting England when he became lost in the London fog. An unknown Boy Scout helped him find his way out, declining a tip (he said that he was a Boy Scout and was doing his good deed for the day). Boyce was so impressed that he incorporated the Boy Scouts of America when he returned home. Its purpose was "to teach boys patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred values."

In 1939, Ada was 29 years old when in May, Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated film, reached a total international gross of $6.5 million which made it (to then) the most successful sound film of all time. First released in December 1937, it was originally dubbed "Disney's Folly" but the premiere received a standing ovation from the audience. At the 11th Academy Awards in February 1939, Walt Disney won an Academy Honorary Award - a full-size Oscar statuette and seven miniature ones - for Snow White.

Baby Rose Marie Dies at 94
Rose Marie Mazzetta, known professionally as Rose Marie, was a star in vaudeville, radio, television, nightclubs, and films. A comedian and singer, her long professional life - almost 90 years - left us an amazing legacy. This is a short clip of her singing "Don't Be Like That" in 1929 - at age 6. Boy, she could really belt it out even at that young age!
