I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of A. C. VAN BUREN of Shelton, WA and his brother (unnamed) which was taken at the Davis Studio in Seattle, WA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with the men appearing to be in their 20’s or 30’s at the time it was taken. In addition to his name someone has also noted his address on the back of the photograph as “Route 2 Box 76” and also indicating that he lives “4 miles south of Grant School on Shelton and Agate Road next to Mr. INMAN”. Both men’s eyes are noted as blue on the back the photograph as well.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mr. VAN BUREN:
Albert Charles VANBUREN or VAN BUREN died in 1948 and is buried in the Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, WA. Probate records indicate that he was a widower at the time of his death and that he was also known as Joseph VAN BUREN during his lifetime.
Census records provide the following information:
1920 census of Hoquiam, WA:
Joe VAN BUREN, age 46, born LA, parents born LA, a Saw Mill Laborer
Alice VAN BUREN, wife, age 47, born MI, parents born MI/IN
1930 census of Miller, WA:
Albert VAN BUREN, age 59, born LA, parents born TN/LA, a Farmer
1940 census of Pickering, WA:
Albert C. VAN BUREN, age 68, born LA
I am hoping to locate someone from this VAN BUREN Family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
