Albert J. Servel was born and raised in San Francisco and lived there until 1949, when he moved to Redwood City, California ,where he lived the rest of his life. He had one sister, who remained in San Francisco. In 1947, an article in the San Francisco Examiner suggested that Albert had been arrested. See Bookie Suspect Caught at Phone. ALBERT SERVEL Albert J. Servel, a former warehouse manager and longtime resident of Redwood City, died Thursday at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City after a short illness. He was 79. Mr. Servel was a native of San Francisco. He lived in there until 1949, when he moved to Redwood City. He worked as a warehouse manager for Colombian Cordage in San Francisco for 35 years until he retired in 1974. Mr. Servel was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamster's Union Local No. 2403 of San Francisco. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary, of Redwood City; a son, Paul Servel of Half Moon Bay; a sister, Margaret Servel of San Francisco; and two grandchildren. A rosary will be said Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road, Redwood City. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Redwood Chapel. A Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1100 Woodside Road, Redwood City. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Menlo Park, California. - The Peninsula Times Tribune (Palo Alto, California) Saturday, September 02, 1989.

Bookie Suspect Caught at Phone

Albert J. Servel, 38, of 1125 Sanchez Street, yesterday was booked at City Prison on a charge of bookmaking.

Patrolmen Raymond J. Wertz and Lloyd Duggins said they caught Servel placing bets on horses over the phone at a carpenter shop on Commercial Street.
