Albert Samuel Whiting was born in 1878 to Edwin Whiting and Cyrene Emma (Smithers) Whiting, and had siblings Charles James Whiting, John Henry Whiting, Edwin George Whiting, Adalina Rosina (Whiting) Trewin, Caroline Amelia Whiting, Cyrene Ellen (Whiting) Olin, Alice Maud Whiting, Walter Ernest Whiting, Percy Hill Whiting, and Leslie Keilor Whiting. Albert Whiting died at age 22 years old on July 2, 1901 in Elandshoek, Ehlanzeni District Municipality County, MP South Africa, and was buried in Machadodorp Cemetery, Nkangala District Municipality County, MP.
