Albert William Summers 1864 - 1959

Albert William Summers of Ballarat Australia was born in 1864 to Hannah Hawkins Summers and Eli Charles Summers. He had siblings Frances Florence Summers, Charles James Summers, George Eli Summers, Josephine Blanch Summers, and Harriet Ruth (Summers) Sharp. He married Janette Young Summers in 1890, and had children Eli Charles Summers, Janette Ethel Sylvia Summers, Albert William Summers, James Francis Summers, Annie Mildred Summers, Cedric Cecil Summers, and Eleanor Marie Summers. Albert Summers died at age 95 years old in 1959 in Ballarat.

In 1864, in the year that Albert William Summers was born, on April 22nd, the Coinage Act of 1864 was passed by Congress. It mandated that "In God We Trust" was to be placed on all United States coins and created a 2 cent coin. Later - in 1956 - "In God We Trust" replaced "E Pluribus Unum" - which means out of many, one - as the national motto.
