Alexander Fred Cofrancesco was born on October 5, 1922 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut United States to Mary Elizabeth Santillo and Gennaro Cofrancesco, and had siblings Anthony Gennaro Cofrancesco, Pasquale Anthony Cofrancesco, Louis Frank Cofrancesco, and Vincent James Cofrancesco. He married Dorothy Mae Cofrancesco on June 16, 1947 in New Haven, New Haven County, CT, and they were married until Alexander's death on April 30, 2010 in Bethany. He had children Richard Alexander Cofrancesco, Gerald John Cofrancesco, Alexander Louis Cofrancesco, and Eugene Alexander Cofrancesco. Alexander Cofrancesco was buried on May 4, 2010 in West Haven.

    Alex Cofrancesco of 9 Dayton Road in Bethany died at home April 30,2010. He was the husband of Dorothy Warner Cofrancesco. Alex was born in New Haven,October 5,1922,a son of the late Gennaro Cofrancesco and Maria Salzone Cofrancesco and had worked for Metropolitan Insurance Co. for several years before retiring. He was a member of the Citadel Club for 70 years,the Bethany Athletic Association for 50 years and the Sons of Italy. In 2009 he was given an honorary degree from the University of New Haven. Alex was the devoted father to Richard (Lena) Cofrancesco of Hamden,Gerald (Donna),Alex (Judy) and Gene (Paula) all of Bethany. Brother of Louis,Vincent and the late Pasquale A. and Anthony Cofrancesco. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Iovanne Funeral Home,Inc. 11 Woolster Pl. Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10. Entombment in St. Lawrence Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Athletic Association 10 Munson Road Bethany,CT 06525 or The Sons of Italy or Catholic Relief Services.
