Alfred Julius Frederick Meitzner was born on March 11, 1903 in Utica, Michigan United States to Carl Charles Meitzner and Alwine Wilhelmina (Stenzel) Meitzner, and had siblings Ella Augusta Willhelmina (Meitzner) Alband, Alvin Wilhelm Meitzner, Ilda Elise Ernestine (Meitzner) Saal, Dora Flora Augusta (Meitzner) Kraase, Adolph Otto Robert Meitzner, Thelma Bertha Martina (Meitzner) Clauw, Arnold Otto Erwin Meitzner, and Alton Walter Meitzner. Alfred Meitzner married Glenevieve Josephine (Miller) Meitzner on November 15, 1924 in Detroit, Wayne County, and they were married until Alfred's death on December 4, 1962.

He began Ford Motor Company with $28,000 in cash from twelve investors, two of whom (the Dodge brothers) later began their own car company. Henry Ford improved on assembly line techniques and has been so successful that his family still controls a very popular Ford line of cars and trucks.
