Alice May (Bartling) Link of Essendon, City of Moonee Valley County, VIC Australia was born on March 10, 1881 in Hotham Heights to Ernest August Conrad Bartling and Frances Anna (Cockerell) Bartling. She had siblings Adam Walter Carl Bartling, Violet Irene Bartling, Ethel Eleanor Bartling, Ivy Bartling, Ernest Albert Bartling, Ernest August Bartling, Oscar Bartling, and Charles Bartling. She married Charles Edward Link in 1910, and had children Edward Albert Link, Edna May Link, Edna May Link, Leslie Link, and Harold Walter Link. Alice Link died at age 60 years old on March 2, 1942 in Essendon.

In 1881, in the year that Alice May Bartling Link was born, on October 26th, the "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" happened in Tombstone, Arizona. The gunfight lasted only 30 seconds - the Earps and Doc Holliday on one side and the "Cowboys" on the other side. The McLaury brothers and Billy Clanton of the Cowboys were killed. Two of the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday were wounded.
