    Funeral Notice for - Mr. Edward Allen Preston. The Brisbane Courier Thurs 24 August 1933 On Sunday last an old and highly respected identity of North Ipswich, in the person of Mr. Edward Allen Preston, died at his home in Liverpool Estate, after a long illness. The deceased, who was 74 years of age, was a native of Derbyshire, England, where he learnt his trade as a carriage builder in the Midland Railways. He came to Queensland with his wife and young family in the S.S.. Remfrewshire, arriving in Brisbane in 27 January, 1884. After a few months with the Negus Carriage Works in South Brisbane, he joined the Ipswich Railway Works in July of the same year, and continued on the staff for many years. During his 49 years'residence In North Ipswich, the deceased had won for himself the respect and affection of a large circle of acquaintances and friends, especially amongst the parishioners of St. Thomas's Church of England, North Ipswich. He is survived by his widow, four sons, and two daughters, and 14 grandchildren. After a service at the home, the funeral took place to the Ipswich Cemetery, the services at both places being conducted by the Rev. J. R. M. Hall, Th.L., Rector of St. Thomas's Church, The pallbearers were Messrs. A. E., C. A., P. A., and W. E. Preston (sons), and Messrs. J. J. Meekin and W. Rawlings (sons-in-law).
