My Papaw was true to his word. He was a good, honorable WWII veteran, and Godly man. He lived a simple life after he came home from being stationed at Ft. Chaffee in Arkansas, marrying my Mamaw, working as much as he could operating a road grater for the ward until he retired, helped raise 4 children. Three of the 4 children blessed them with 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter Chelley when he passed in 2008. I saw him one last time at my uncle's funeral before he passed in 2006. Our eyes met and he said with excitement in his eyes, "Janet!" His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and I realized my Papaw had the bluest, most soul-piercing eyes I'd ever seen on a man. I learned from him how to treat all people of diversity, don't do it period. I always miss his laugh and sense of humor and wisdom.

He was a WWII Veteran. He was stationed at Fort Chaffee in AR where the government was housing the American side's Nazi prisoners of war. His eyesight wasn't good enough to fight overseas, so he was stationed there. He drove a road grater for the ward he lived in for 35 years. He had his own little farm. He got along with everyone for the most part, but if he didn't like a person, there was a good reason for it. He was good judge of character. Very wise man.
