He was one of 8 children in his family with siblings Charles Bruce Lemacks (1915-1996), Verna Garfrey Lemacks (1920-1998), Thelma B Lemacks (1924-1984), Roy Daniel Lemacks (1927-1930), Margie Grace Lemacks (1930-2010), Troy Dean Lemacks (1932-2001), and Stanley Robert Lemacks. He married Jesse Irene Mims (1921–2008) on June 19, 1942 in Randolph, Alabama. The couple had four children including David Lemacks (1942-2018) and Betty Jo Lemacks (1946-2010) and they later divorced in 1947. Alvin re-married on January 14, 1947 in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida, USA to Elaine Margaret Gerbing (1924–2009). They later divorced in 1950. Alvin worked at Container Corporation of America from 1948 until his retirement in 1987.

    Alvin Lemacks, of Yulee, died May 4, 1997 at his home. A native of Meigs, Georgia, he had lived in Yulee since 1948. He served in the US Army in WWII, and worked at Container Corporation of America from 1948 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Fernandina Beach, and the Yulee Lions Club. He was survived by his wife, 3 sons, a daughter, 2 brothers, a sister and 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A special thanks to Barbara Cox (#47464141) for the above obituary. The striking miners were outraged at the strikebreakers (scabs) that the company had brought in and laid siege to the mine. Three union workers were killed when gunfire was exchanged. The next day, union miners killed 23 strikebreakers and mine guards. No one, on either side, ever faced jail time.
