Arno Paul Roensch was born on May 24, 1918 to Paul Arno Alexander Roensch (1894-1941) and Anna Therese Mathilde Bülow (1893-1961). He was born in Berlin Brandenburg, Germany. He immigrated from Hamburg, Deutschland on January 28, 192 and arrived in New York, New York on February 11, 1922. The family lived in New York, Queens. He was a student of Rutgers Univerity in New Jersey, and his studies were put on hold when Arno was drafted into the United States Military on May 3, 1944 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was sent to Los Alamos National Laboratory as a scientific glassblower for the Manhattan Project and he worked there for 30 years. He married Eleanor Cecelia Stone (1920-1995) on December 14, 1946 in Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA and had children Paul Roensch, Fred Roensch, Barbara Fake, and adopted daughter, Loc Truong. Arno earned his B.A. in business administration from Highlands University. As stated in the Arno P Roensch: Obituary, he also shared his musical talent playing trumpet and leading a dance band in the '40' and playing in and directing many musical productions in the '5O's and '60's at Los Alamos.In 1974 he moved to Albuquerque to establish the glassblowing shop for the chemistry department at UNM and to teach his art. He retired from UNM in 1988 but continued to blow glass at his own business, Southwestern Scientific Glass Company, until his death.

He also lived and attended school in Bloomfield, Essex, New Jersey, USA and gained naturalization on August 3, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey. Later in life he moved to Albuquerque NM.

Arno Roensch graduated from Bloomfield High School (Bloomfield, Essex, New Jersey, USA) on June 19, 1934. He then went on to complete 3 years of college at Rutgers University before being drafted into the War. After the war he moved to New Mexico and received his B.A. in business administration from Highlands University.

Arno Roensch worked at the glass shop at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 30 years. In 1974 he moved to Albuquerque to establish the glassblowing shop for the chemistry department at UNM and to teach his art. He retired from UNM in 1988 but continued to blow glass at his own business, Southwestern Scientific Glass Company, until his death.

He married Margaret Ritter in 1943 in New Jersey and the two later separated. He then married Eleanor Cecelia Stone (1920-1995) on December 14, 1946 in Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. He also got an annulment on November 17, 1962 in Newark, unsure to whom. He played trumpet and led a dance band in the 1940's and played in/directed many musical productions in the 1950's and 1960's at Los Alamos. In 1974 he moved to Albuquerque to establish the glassblowing shop for the chemistry department at UNM and to teach his art.

ROENSCH-Arno Roensch, a 25 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 1999,at the age of 81. Born in Berlin, 1918, he emigrated to New York at age 3 His education at Rutgers University was interrupted in 1944 when he was drafted into the Army and was sent to Los Alamos as a scientific glassblower for the Manhattan Project. After the war, he headed to the glass shop at Los Alamos National Laboratory where he worked for 30 years. During that time he received his B.A. in business administration from Highlands University. He also shared his musical talent playing trumpet and leading a dance band in the '40' and playing in and directing many musical productions in the 'SO's and '60's at Los Alamos. In 1974 he moved to Albuquerque to establish the glassblowing shop for the chemistry department at UNM and to teach his art. He retired from UNM in 1988 but continued to blow glass at his own business, Southwestern Scientific Glass Company, until his death. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Elenor Stone Roensch. He is survived by his sons, Paul Roensch of Albuquerque, Fred Roensch of White Rock; daughter, Barbara Fake and husband, Jim of Los Angeles; and adopted daughter, Loc Truong, of Albuquerque; his very dear friend, April Holliday; his grandchildren, Arno, Jonathan, Megan, Pete Drew, Amy, Abby, and Nat. His love for people made him many, many friends. His infections laugh and great sense of humor inspired all of us to live life to its fullest.
