Arno Paul Roensch was born on May 24, 1918 to Paul Arno Alexander Roensch (1894-1941) and Anna Therese Mathilde Bülow (1893-1961). He was born in Berlin Brandenburg, Germany. He immigrated from Hamburg, Deutschland on January 28, 192 and arrived in New York, New York on February 11, 1922. The family lived in New York, Queens.
He was a student of Rutgers Univerity in New Jersey, and his studies were put on hold when Arno was drafted into the United States Military on May 3, 1944 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was sent to Los Alamos National Laboratory as a scientific glassblower for the Manhattan Project and he worked there for 30 years.
He married Eleanor Cecelia Stone (1920-1995) on December 14, 1946 in Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA and had children Paul Roensch, Fred Roensch, Barbara Fake, and adopted daughter, Loc Truong.
Arno earned his B.A. in business administration from Highlands University. As stated in the Arno P Roensch: Obituary, he also shared his musical talent playing trumpet and leading a dance band in the '40' and playing in and directing many musical productions in the '5O's and '60's at Los Alamos.In 1974 he moved to Albuquerque to establish the glassblowing shop for the chemistry department at UNM and to teach his art. He retired from UNM in 1988 but continued to blow glass at his own business, Southwestern Scientific Glass Company, until his death.
