Arthur Briggs had siblings James Alfred Briggs, Frederick William Briggs, Mary Jane Briggs, Emily Maria Briggs, Lucy Annie Briggs, and Fanny Athelea Briggs. He married Agnes Tallent in 1904. He also married Ivy May Ward in 1942. Arthur Briggs died at age 68 years old on November 5, 1942 in Warrnambool.

In 1873, in the year that Arthur Albert Briggs was born, on March 3rd, the U.S. Congress enacted the Comstock Law. The law made it illegal to send any "obscene, lewd, or lascivious" material through the U.S. mail. This included erotica, contraceptives, sex toys, abortifacients, information about these items, and "personal letters alluding to any sexual content or information".

In 1889, he was 16 years old when on March 31st, the Eiffel Tower was inaugurated. Because the elevators were not yet in operation, officials had to climb to the top of the tower - it took an hour. On May 15th, the Tower opened to the public - still without working elevators - but around 30,000 visitors still made the climb. The elevators went into operation on the 26th. The Tower wasn't considered aesthetically pleasing at the time but is now one of the most iconic structures in the world.
