He lived in Ottumwa, Coffey, Kansas, USA and then moved to Banner, Pawnee, Oklahoma. On May 16, 1912 he married Glenn Jones (1889-1975) in Glencoe, Payne, Oklahoma, USA. The couple had five children together: Laura Evelyn Rice (1913-2005), Percy Glenn Rice (1915-1922), Carrie Helen Rice (1918-1982), Clyde Rex Rice (1920-1969), and Billie Lee Rice (1922-2000).
