Bertha Bates 1908 - 1983

Bertha Mildred (Montague) Bates of Triangle, Prince William County, Virginia was born on February 12, 1908 to William Montague and Mary Montague. Bertha Bates had siblings James Walter Montague, Florine Juggins, Mary Atkins, Robert Montague, and Annie Edwards. She married Walter Elmer Joseph Bates in November 1935. They had children Elizabeth (Bates) Jones and Patty Joan (Bates) Haymon. Bertha's partner was Casby Jones and they later separated. They had a child Edith Katherine Montague. Bertha Bates died at age 75 years old on April 19, 1983.
