James Walter Montague 1906 - 1992

James Walter Montague of Culpeper, Culpeper County, VA was born on October 29, 1906 to William Montague and Mary Montague. He had siblings Florine Juggins, Bertha Bates, Mary Atkins, Robert Montague, and Annie Edwards. He married Ruby Tyler Bunn Montague on November 11, 1937 in Stafford County United States and they later divorced on May 5, 1954. James Montague died at age 85 years old on June 3, 1992, and was buried at Quantico National Cemetery Section 8 Site 735 18424 Joplin Road (route 619), in Triangle.

In 1906, in the year that James Walter Montague was born, English biochemist Frederick Hopkins concluded that vitamins are essential to the human body and that a lack of vitamins caused scurvy and rickets. Scurvy and rickets were both huge problems in sailors that were at sea for extended time and the addition of vitamin C, vitamin D, and calcium in their diets helped eradicate the problem.
