  • Obituary

Bess was a cultured, intelligent woman. Although small of stature, she was known as a great beauty. She was a reader of books and a warm-hearted mother and grandmother. She married young (18 years), as was the custom in 1927, to Joseph Wangro, who was a commercial artist by profession. She was the eldest daughter in a family of three girls, born into an affluent and cultured family. Like the other members of her family, she was a political liberal who voted in all elections, national and local alike. She was occasionally given to somewhat eccentric pronouncements, which were the subject of fond amusement on the part of younger family members. I was a nephew of hers and remember her with much fondness.
