    Published in The Springfield News-Leader Newspaper (Springfield, Missouri) on Wednesday August 14, 2002: Betty J. Allison, 79, of Springfield, Mo., passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, August 11, 2002. Betty was born August 24, 1922 in Coffeyville,Kan., where she graduated from Field Kindly Memorial High School. Affectionately known as "Aunt Betty" by many nieces and nephews and a host of others, Betty was a devoted mother who worked tirelessly to raise and support her worthless son Bobby. (This obituary was submitted and paid for by Bobby Allison). During her working years Betty owned and managed a day-care center, worked in state government, managed apartment complexes and was an owner of a gift shop, Aunt Betty's Gifts 'n Things. Earlier this year Betty experienced one of the biggest thrills of her life with the dedication and opening of the Betty Allison Junior Golf Course at Rivercut. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son, Bobby, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2002 in Gorman-Scharpf Brenwood Chapel with Chaplain John D. Woody officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heart of the of Ozarks Junior Golf Foundation, 2846 W. Farm Road 190, Springfield, MO 65810.
