Betty Jane (Smith) Gehrke was born on June 16, 1925 in Hope, Dickinson Co County, KS to Ira Sylvester Smith, Jr. and Dora Mae Oyster. She married Asier Fowler in in MO, and they were married until Asier's death in May 1986. She also married Clarence A Biri in and they later divorced in May 1986. She and Oscar Lewis Gehrke married on May 15, 1946 in Herington, Dickinson Co County, KS and they later divorced in May 1986 in Topeka, Shawnee Co County. They had children Billy Dean Gehrke, Ronald Dwane Gehrke, Dianna Jean (Gehrke) Tyler, Donna Gail (Gehrke) Crist, Gary Lee Gehrke, Judy Ann (Gehrke) Verkler, and Tina Lea Gehrke. Betty Gehrke died at age 66 years old on March 15, 1992 in Topeka, Shawnee County, KS, and was buried on March 20, 1992 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka, Shawnee Co. County.
