    Betty L (Cage) Knight Lucas Ward was born to Benjamin Harrison Cage (1888 - 1971) and Viola Edith (Wilson) Cage (1895 - 1967). Her father was born in Maryland and her mother was born in Illinois. She had one brother, John Cage and one sister, Joan Cage Laird. Betty also had two half-siblings: Edwin Cage and Elizabeth Cage.

    Betty married three times: She first married Paul Wayne Knight (1925 - 1979) in 1943. She then married Robert Lucas in 1959. She then married Joel Foreman Ward (1915 - 1999) in 1972. All three husband preceded her in death, Betty had a son, John Knight (1947 - 1991), who preceded her in death. She also had a son, Lawrence "Lary" Lucas and two daughters, Paula and Mary. She was survived by six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
