Blanche Outhwaite died at age 35 years old on March 29, 1884 in Templestowe, City of Manningham County.

In 1848, in the year that Blanche Isabel (Clerk) Outhwaite was born, on November 1st, the first medical school for women - but founded by a man - opened in Boston. Called the Boston Female Medical College, and later merging with the Boston University School of Medicine, women could officially attend medical classes and be trained as physicians.

In 1856, Blanche was only 8 years old when on January 26th the Battle of Seattle occurred. Marines from the ship the USS Decatur, stationed in Elliott Bay, along with about 50 Seattle settlers, fought Native Americans in the area. Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens had declared a "war of extermination" on Native communities 5 days before.
