11-year-old charged with killing Chandlerville woman
HAVANA — An 11-year-old boy has been charged in Mason County Juvenile Court with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 39-year-old rural Chandlerville woman Saturday.
The boy is accused of shooting Brenda Schaad, who was pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound at her home at 6:18 p.m. Saturday. The boy was arrested less than two hours later.
Authorities have not disclosed the boy’s name or his relationship to the victim. The Mason County sheriff’s office said Monday no new information was being released about the case.
Mason County Coroner Mike Hurley said an autopsy on Schaad will be performed today in Peoria.
