His paternal grandparents were born in Missouri and Tennessee and his maternal grandparents were born in Tennessee and Missouri. He had two brothers, Paul W. (1899 - 1962) and Charles E. Williams 1911 - 1952). He also had five half-siblings, including James W. Williams (1896 - 1910), Roy L. Williams (1899 - 1910), Pearl Walton (1902 - 1978) and Orpha Mae Williams (1908 - 2001). Calvin Cooper married Maxine Thomas on November 30, 2939 in Jackson, Missouri and they had one son, John Calvin Cooper Ross (1941 - 2001). He also married Helen Louida Crowl and they had Calvin O.T. Cooper Jr. (1951 - 2020) and one more son plus two daughters.

    CALVIN O. G. COOPER Funeral services for Calvin O. G. Cooper, 53, of Miami, Florida were to be at 1 p.m. today in the Ralph Thieme Chapel with the Reverend Carl Garrett officiating. Burial was to be in Clear Creek Cemetery. Mr. Cooper, a native of Greene County, died Wednesday while vacationing in Virginia, Minnesota. - Springfield Leader and Press (Springfield, Missouri) Saturday August 16, 1969 on page 7.
