    Carrie Corrine Carpenter was born a fraternal twin to Harry (Harold?) Carpenter. Other siblings included LeRoy and others (names are unsure). She and her siblings were surrendered to an orphanage in Indianapolis after the death of their mother and the father not being able to care for them. She married Maurice Delbert Wheeler. They had 5 children: Gene Delbert Wheeler, Louis Wheeler, Marlene Wheeler, Patricia Lou Wheeler, and Caroline (who died in infancy)

He was president of the Society of American Magicians and stringently upheld professional ethics. He died of complications from a ruptured appendix. Although he had received a blow to the area a couple of days previously, the connection between the blow and his appendicitis is disputed.
