Carrie Lee Goosey's father was William Francis Goosey, 1856-1917, and her mother was Mary "Polly" Martin, 1839-1882. She had half-sister, Polly King. Her father's obituary says that he had 7 children who survived him: Frank, John, George, Warren, and Ben Goosey and Carrie and Polly.
Carrie Goosey married Abram Merritt (1862-1947) in 1897 and had children Mary Louise (Merritt) Shearer, 1908-1983, John Curry Merritt, 1886-1962, Jesse J Merritt, 1894-1918, and Jean (Merritt) Estes, 1914-1983.
In the 1910 census, Carrie was living with her husband Abe and children Jessie, Thelma, and Louise, in Ford KY. The census says that she didn't go to school, could read and write, had been married 13 years. She had 4 children but only 2 were living. Abe was listed as being a pilot in the boat industry. They owned their home.
In the 1920 census, Carrie and Abe were still living in Ford KY with daughters Thelma, Louise, and jean. Abe listed his occupation as a deal in the coal industry.
In the 1930 Clark County KY census, Abe and Carrie were living with daughters Thelma and Jean. Abe was listed as a foreman, carpenter.
In the 1940 census for Clark county KY, Abram was 78, Carrie was 64, and daughter Thelma, age 35, was living with them. Abram was working part time as a bus driver for the public school. Thelma was a bookkeeper.
