Catherine Morrison Lilienthal, 54, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday morning after a courageous battle with leukemia. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, on July 2, 1957, and was raised and educated in Saco, Maine. She attended the University of Maine at Farmington prior to teaching elementary school in Rockland, Maine. After meeting her future husband and starting a family, they relocated to Baldwinsville, NY. There, Catherine formed her own in-home day care center in 1990, allowing her to maintain her passion for childhood development, while providing a loving home life for her family. Catherine participated in many community organizations and heavily supported the educational and recreational activities of her children. She was involved with neighborhood social groups and was a strong supporter of local cancer support charities. Catherine was a humble person who cared deeply for her family and loved ones, including the numerous children under her care over the years. She took great joy in raising her three sons with her husband, watching them learn and grow into young adults. Catherine was predeceased by her father, John Thomas Morrison of Saco, Maine. She is survived by her husband, Arthur G. Lilienthal Jr. of Baldwinsville; her three sons, Thomas (Nicole) of Baldwinsville, Arthur III (Kaitie) of Grand Forks, ND, and Michael of Baldwinsville; her grandson, Jonathan; her mother, Margaret G. Morrison of Saco, Maine; one brother, John (Sheri) Morrison; four sisters, Margaret (Mark) Baker, Lauri (Timothy) Randall, Lyn (Robert) Eaton and Mary (Anthony) LeBlanc; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Catherine's inspiration, insight and warm heart will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to have known her. Her spirit will live on within our hearts and minds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 Rte. 31, Baldwinsville. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 Rte. 31, Baldwinsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maureen's Hope Foundation, 6301 Mustang Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. Published in Syracuse Post Standard on December 11, 2011
