Catherine Bergstrom, 72, of Boise, died Monday, May 19, 2004 at home of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with Pastors Darrell Beddoe and James Newman of Whitney Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home today from 4 to 8:30 p.m.
Catherine was born November 29, 1930, in Reedley, California to Herman C. and Hazel Laird Osborne. She attended schools in California and after graduation attended nurses training for two years. She married Howard Bergstrom on October 17, 1950, at Oakland, California. They resided in California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, and finally in Idaho for the last several years. While in New Mexico, she worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 10 years before retiring.
Cathy made the most important decision of her life when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in high school. It was her desire to be known as one who loved the Lord with all her heart. No one who ever met her could deny that she did. She was an inspiration to many around her as she accepted the death of her young daughter to leukemia, and later battled the same disease. She was never one to sit idly, finding numerous ways to occupy her time. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, Bible studies, teaching Sunday school, and caring for others. She was an active member of Whitney Baptist Church until her death. Cathy will be missed by all who knew her, but we refuse to be sad, for she is sitting at the feet of Jesus where she is most at home.
Survivors include her husband, Howard M. Bergstrom of Boise; four children and their families, Diane M. Grady of Boise, her son, David-Joel Grady and his wife, Christina, and their children, Guitana and Aamon; James M.
