    Charles was the oldest son of Jefferson Nisbet. He grew up on a prosperous farm and with loving parents. He had always lived on the farm with the exception of 5 yrs which he spent in Kansas. He was very attached to his home, parents and relatives. And his death at his age came to a great shock to the community.

Tin type of young Charles Nisbet, ca. 1871/72. The photo was probably taken in Rome, Oneida County, New York. The family at that time lived in Lee Center, Oneida, NY where his father Jefferson Nisbet was engaged in farming. Shortly after the photo was taken, they moved west to Earlville, Illinois.
