The Daily Mail Nov. 9, 2002 & Nov. 10, 2002 Charles D. Raffiani Sr. Owner of Charlie’s Auto Body Earlton—Charles D. Raffiani, 61, of Schoharie Turnpike, Earlton, died suddenly at his residence Nov. 7, 2002. He was born in Paterson, N.J., March 28, 1941, to the late Francis Raffiani and Catherine Whitbeck Raffiani VanDenburgh. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, 383 Boss St. Cairo, with the Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Nunan officiating. Private cremation will take place at the Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands. He is survived by three sons, Charles D. Raffiani, Jr. of Catskill, Todd J. Raffiani of Fishkill and Phil Raffiani of Earlton; two daughters Dawn M. (Rivenburgh) Raffiani of Catskill and Beck Raffiani of Greenville; four brothers, Francis (Shorty) Raffiani of Pennsylvania, John Raffiani of Climax, John VanDenburgh of South Cairo and Roger VanDenburgh of Freehold. Survivors also include four grandchildren, Charles D. Raffiani of Catskill, Jill L. Raffiani of Catskill, Mikayla Rivenburgh of Catskill and Tiffani Raffiani of Delmar, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his long time companion, Pauline F. Walker, and her daughter Kristie Walker, both of Cairo. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Phillipe R. Raffiani, Richard VanDenburgh and Robert Raffiani. Mr. Raffiani was the owner and operator of Charlie’s Carstar Auto Body and Charlie’s Self Storage in Palenville. He was a member and past president of the Lions Club of Catskill, a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose of Sebastian, Fla., a member of the Italian American Club of Florida, a member of the Catskill Elks Lodge No. 1341 and of Florida. He was a former president of the Capital District Auto Body Association Collision Technicians, a member of the Coxsackie Yacht Club, and a member of the Society of Collision and Repair Specialists. He was a five-time consecutive award winner of the Carstar’s prestigious Customer Satisfaction Award. He loved to restore classic and muscle cars. He was also an active gardener and loved to travel. Mr. Raffiani served his country in the U. S. Navy. Relative and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 383 Boss St., Cairo on Monday, Nov. 11, from 2 to 9 p.m. The Catskill Elks No. 1341 B.P.O.E. will hold services in his memory on Monday evening at 7 p.m. Contributions in his memory in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
