He had siblings Geneva (Benson) Alexander, Bernice Benson, Ethel (Benson ) Woods, Alberta (Benson) Outland, Tommie Benson, and Elnora (Benson) Burgess. He married Ethel Mae Benson Mrs., and had children Robert Benson, Jerry Dean Benson Sr., Charlie Mae Benson, Darrel Benson, and Vera B. Benson - Johnson. Charlie Benson died at age 73 years old on October 28, 1994.
