Charlie Canham of Iowa Falls, Hardin County, Iowa United States was born on September 26, 1861 in Chatham, Sangamon County, IL to George Canham and Susan (Layton) Canham. He had siblings William Edward Canham, Sophia Canham Riley, and David Canham. He married Edna (Oviatt) Canham, and had a child Claude Layton Canham. Charlie Canham died at age 70 years old on December 4, 1931 in Iowa Falls, Hardin County, IA, and was buried at Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

That's a good question. According to my grandmother, Charlie was a little bit eccentric. He was born in 1861, so this couldn't be a Civil War uniform as he would have been too young. None of the Canham male children (as in, David, Charles, William, James, George and John) were in American service since they did not come to America until the 1850s. My grandfather, Alva (William's son) was in WW1. This is my favorite of Charlie. I have several pictures of him. Grandmother said that Charlie was her favorite uncle among Alva's uncles, so she had different photos of him. It would be great to find out why he was wearing this uniform.
