Charlotte Eliza (Duckmanton) Renwick of Box Hill, Whitehorse City County, VIC Australia was born circa 1883 in Dunkeld to John Duckmanton and Eliza Womersley Duckmanton. She had siblings Sidney Duckmanton, Leo Duckmanton, Albert Duckmanton, Elizabeth Ann (Duckmanton) Cashmore, Lucy (Duckmanton) Brennan, Arthur Frederick Duckmanton, Walter William Duckmanton, Clara Jane (Duckmanton) Germaine, Dudley Duckmanton, Harry Alan Duckmanton, Agnes (Duckmanton) Fry, and Amy Ada (Duckmanton) Foxcroft. She married George Arthur Hansen Renwick in 1916, and had children Jack Hamilton Renwick and Laurel Gordon Renwick. Charlotte Renwick died at age 82 years old circa 1965 in Box Hill.

In 1906, Charlotte was 23 years old when author Upton Sinclair exposed the public-health threat of the meat-packing industry in his book The Jungle. While his intent was to show the lives of exploited lives of immigrants in Chicago and other industrialized cities, most people were horrified by how the meat that ended up on their tables was handled. There was such an outcry that legislation was passed to regulate meat packing. Sinclair said " "I aimed at the public's heart, and by accident I hit it in the stomach."
