He had siblings Ethel Mary Ellen Hose, George William Hose, Albert Arthur Stephen Hose, Minnie Nellie May Hose, Ida Florence Hose, Ivy Aphrodite Evelyn Hose, Rupert Horace Hose, Elizabeth Annie Hose, Lloyd Francis Hose, Henry Alfred Hose, Leslie Ivor Hose, Frederick Edward Hose, and Stanley Herbert Hose. Clifton Hose married Lillian Gerte Broderick in 1931, and died at age 65 years old on May 19, 1972.

In 1906, in the year that Clifton Peter Hose was born, abolitionist and suffragette leader Susan B. Anthony died, before women's right to vote nationally was realized (in 1920). She, along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the National American Woman Suffrage Association which later became the League of Women Voters. She died at the age of 86 of heart failure and pneumonia in her home in New York.
