He married Clara (Olmsted) Norris on April 16, 1918 in San Antonio, Bexar County United States, and had children Kenneth Allen Norris, Richard Gordon Norris, and Clyde Roy Norris Jr. Clyde Norris died at age 77 years old in August 1973, and was buried on August 10, 1973 at Roselawn Memorial Park 3801 Roselawn Dr, in Denton, Denton County.

In 1896, in the year that Clyde Norris was born, on May 18th, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in the case of Plessy v. Ferguson. By a vote of 7 to 1, the Court upheld state racial segregation laws, introducing the idea of "separate but equal" facilities for races.

In 1931, he was 35 years old when on May 1st, the Empire State Building opened in New York City. At 1,454 feet (including the roof and antenna), it was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center's North Tower was built in 1970. (It is now the 34th tallest.) Opening at the beginning of the Great Depression, most of the offices in the Empire State Building remained unoccupied for years and the observation deck was an equal source of revenue and kept the building profitable.
