Daphne Frances Hosmer of Glenroy, City of Merri-bek County, VIC Australia was born in 1906 in Essendon, City of Moonee Valley County to Florrie Johnston Hosmer and William Vivian Hosmer. She had siblings William George Hosmer, Walter Cadwallader Hosmer, Benjamin Ernest Hosmer, Percy Thomas Hosmer, Hilda Hosmer, Harold Victor Hosmer, Agnes Hester Hosmer, and May Hosmer. Daphne Hosmer married Donald Ernt Heath Mcinnes in 1926, and died at age 95 years old on April 24, 2002 in Glenroy, City of Merri-bek County.

In 1906, in the year that Daphne Frances Hosmer was born, abolitionist and suffragette leader Susan B. Anthony died, before women's right to vote nationally was realized (in 1920). She, along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the National American Woman Suffrage Association which later became the League of Women Voters. She died at the age of 86 of heart failure and pneumonia in her home in New York.

In 1929, at the age of 23 years old, Daphne was alive when on March 4th, Herbert Hoover became the 31st President of the United States. Early in his presidency, the October stock market crash - "Black Tuesday" - occurred, which lead to the Great Depression. None of his economic policies were able to make a dent in the Depression. This lead to one term and the election of Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt winning the 1933 election in a landslide.
