Introduction

David's mother was Rosha Franco, 1972-1948, born in Turkey. His father's name is unknown. In the 1920 US Census, Rosha "Rose" was listed as living on Yesler Way in Seattle Washington. She stated that she was widowed, her parents were born in Turkey, that she spoke Spanish, and that she was unable to read or write English. Also listed in the household were David, age 28 son, Victoria, age 19 wife of David, Lagra age 8, and Judy age 4.5 Also in the 1920 census, David said that he immigrated in 1915 to Alabama and Victoria immigrated in 1918 to Alabama. David was a "fruit man". Everyone but Judy was born in Turkey - Seattle was Judy's birthplace and everyone in the household spoke Spanish. David married Victoria "Nida" Galente, 1900-1990, and they had Lagra b. 1912, a daughter; Leon Judah "Judy" 1919-1990; and Albert David 1923-2004. In the 1930 census, Victoria and David were living in Montgomery Alabama and both stated that they were born in Italy. Living at home were Leon age 11 and Albert age 7 - both born in Washington state and were US citizens. In the 1940 census, the family was living in Montgomery, David was listed as a Proprietor, he and Victoria rented their home, and he said that he and Victoria were born on the Isle of Rhodes. It seems that David owned a store and Victoria was a clerk in the store. Still living with David and Victoria were Leon age 20 and Albert age 17.
