He had siblings Sarah Elizabeth (Goodes) Jones, Esther Victoria (Goodes) Shepherd, William Hannaford Goodes, Ruby Beatrice Goodes, George Goodes, Annie Goodes Jones, and James Richard Goodes. David Goodes married Elsie Jane Mccabe, and died at age 95 years old on March 8, 1985.

In 1889, in the year that David Frances Goodes was born, on April 20th, Adolf Hitler was born in Austria-Hungary - now Austria. In his early 30's, he began his rise to power in German politics, eventually becoming the leader of the Nazi Party and Führer of Nazi Germany. He presided over the death of millions of civilians as well as leading Germany through World War II.

In 1914, when he was 25 years old, in only his second big-screen appearance, Charlie Chaplin played the Little Tramp, his most famous character. The silent film was made in January and released the following year. Of the character, Chaplin said: "On the way to the wardrobe I thought I would dress in baggy pants, big shoes, a cane and a derby hat. I wanted everything a contradiction: the pants baggy, the coat tight, the hat small and the shoes large." The moustache was added to age his 24-year-old face without masking his expressions.
