Della May (Matthews) Boose of Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, MO was born on September 27, 1894. She was married to Joseph Monroe Boose in 1909, and they were together until Joseph's death in February 1979. She had children Mildred Marie (Boose) Vaughn, Fern Opal (Boose) Yount, Edna E. Boose, and Joseph M. Boose Jr. Della Boose died at age 96 years old on December 30, 1990.

In 1894, in the year that Della Boose was born, on March 12th, for the first time, Coca-Cola was sold in individual bottles as a drink for consumer consumption. Previously, it was sold as a syrup for upset stomachs - over the counter.

In 1943, Della was 49 years old when on June 20th through June 22nd, the Detroit Race Riot erupted at Belle Isle Park. The rioting spread throughout the city (made worse by false rumors of attacks on blacks and whites) and resulted in the deployment of 6,000 Federal troops. 34 people were killed, (25 of them black) - mostly by white police or National Guardsmen, 433 were wounded (75 percent of them black) and an estimated $2 million of property was destroyed. The same summer, there were riots in Beaumont, Texas and Harlem, New York.
