Diane Marie (Harris) Hominick was born on October 26, 1944 to Herbert Harris and Violet Kathleen (Moore) Harris, and had a brother Donald Richard Harris. She married John Wayne Hominick on February 19, 1966, and had a child Paige Marie (Hominick) Stroman. Diane Hominick died at age 74 years old in May 2019.

    Diane was my wonderful Mother. She was so living and kind. She was a phenomenal cook and baker. She died with Parkinson’s Fisease which also struck her Father, Herbert Harris. She is missed every minute of every day.

In 1944, in the year that Diane Marie (Harris) was born, on June 22nd, the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, called the G.I. Bill, was signed into law, pushed through by the veteran's organizations. Benefits provided for veterans to return to school (high school, vocational school, or college), obtain low interest home mortgages and low interest business loans, and (if needed) one year of unemployment insurance. Since most returning vets immediately found work, less than 20% of the unemployment benefits were distributed.
