Dolores Edith (Meurer) Vaubel of 616 Chapman St - 616 LeHillier St, in Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota United States was born on August 5, 1928 in Mankato to Ralph Meurer and Dorothy (Cyphers) Meurer. She had siblings Dean Meurer, Agnes Meurer, Arlene Meurer, James Meurer, MaryLou Meurer, Robert Meurer, Dorothy Meurer, Lois Meurer, and Barbara Meurer. She married Robert W Vaubel in June 1954 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, Blue Earth County, and they were married until Robert's death on June 27, 1991. She had children Colleen Vaubel, Steven Vaubel, Daniel Vaubel, Timothy Vaubel, Patrick Vaubel, Rebecca Lynn (Vaubel ) Sandmeyer Hollerich, Michael Vaubel, Bernadette (Vaubel) Schendel, and Renee (Vaubel) Mann. Dolores Vaubel died at age 88 years old on September 24, 2016 in Mankato, and was buried in September 2016 in Mankato, Blue Earth County.

  • Introduction

    Loving wife of Robert and mother to his nine children. Dolores was a housewife when her children were younger. She did daycare for other families to help supplement the income and later on when the youngest started school she cleaned other peoples homes. Later on in life Dolores took pride and joy in attending water aerobics daily at the YMCA. She became friends with the “ladies” and after aerobics they often had lunch together. Dolores was not afraid death and often said, “ God, please take me in this chair.” Her daughters were with her at the time of her death and witnessed her going to be with the lord forever.

    Dolores went to Rapidan School in Rapidan, Mn. She graduated high school from there.

    Dolores took her religion seriously, never missing a Sunday/Saturday mass until shortly before her death. Her and her family were charter members of St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

    Dolores attempted to go to nurses school shortly after high school graduation but became very homesick and went home with her family. Before marrying she was a nanny and also worked at a laundromat.

    Dolores was very active in the YMCA water aerobics classes. Very seldom did she miss a day. Also was involved with her church group and enjoyed going out for lunch with the ladies from water aerobics.

    Dolores E. Vaubel, age 88 of Mankato, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2016 at Pathstone Living in Mankato surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Timothy Reker Celebrant with Deacon John Rudd assisting. Interment will be in Woodlawn Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at Woodlawn Hills Funeral Home in Mankato with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 P.M., and will continue on Thursday morning one hour prior to services at church. Woodlawn Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is handling arrangements. Dolores Edith was born on August 5, 1928 to Ralph and Dorothy (Cyphers) Meurer in Mankato, Minnesota. She graduated from Rapidan High School in 1948. On June 10, 1954 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Vaubel at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, Minnesota. After their marriage Dolores and Robert raised their family in Mankato. She was a homemaker all of her life, and was also a daycare provider and cleaned homes. Dolores was a member of the YMCA, and a charter member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato, was active with their quilting group. She enjoyed family vacations, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, water aerobics, gardening, baking, volunteering at MRCI thrift store in Mankato, going out for lunch with the ladies. Dolores loved time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Julie Volkman) Vaubel of Waterville, Daniel (Kristy) Vaubel of Garden City, Timothy (Karen) Vaubel of Mankato, Patrick Vaubel of Mankato, and Michael (Amy) Vaubel of Faribault; daughters, Colleen Vaubel of Eagan, Rebecca (Bradley) Hollerich of Good Thunder, Bernadette (Robin) Schendel of North Mankato, and Renee (Keith) Mann of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Alyssa Ann, Trevor, Britt, Karen, David, Jenni, Katie, Shane, Kacie, Alyssa Marie, Joshua, Jacob, Aaron, Heather, Kristen, Bryanna, Danni, Micayla, and Allie; great grandchildren, Hailey, Kalyn,Kyler, Brenna,, Jacoby, Cooper, Austin, Kylie, Harriet, Caleb, Eli, Adeline, and Ella; brothers, Dean Meurer of Mankato, and Robert (Mary) Meurer of Mankato; sister, Dorothy (Duane) Ziegler of Mankato; by many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on June 27, 1991; granddaughter, Ashley Schendel; son in law, Brad Sandmeyer; sisters, Arlene Kachelmeyer, MaryLou Caron, Lois Volrath, Barbara Meurer, and Agnes in infancy.
